Key Initiatives for 2006
Below are the key initiatives we are undertaking in the next 12 months. By supporting these activities you can participate in our work as we halp to make the vision of a global movement for ethics and peace education a reality.

The Missing Peace Curriculum.  In conjunction with The Missing Peace art exhibition, which opens in Los Angeles in June 2006 and will travel to venues around the world for the next 3 years, we are developing Middle School and High School curricula using art as a doorway to a dialog on peace.  We have identified experienced curricula development specialists for both the middle school and high school levels. The curricula will be developed in accordance with relevant standards to facilitate adoption across the U.S. It will be made available for use by teachers at no cost. Once developed, it will be translated into other langauges.

Each curriculum costs approximately [USD] $5,000 to develop.

Online School for Peace.  In 2006 we will begin offering our first two courses, Practical Ethics and Destructive Emotions. These are the foundational courses of what will become an online university offering a wide range of values-oriented courses, freely available to all.  Examples of courses in our roadmap include Cultivating Compassion, The Message of Martin Luther King Jr.,Integral Peacemaking, a Transformative Approach to Peace & Sustainability, Nonviolent Communication, and A Force More Powerful—The Nonviolent Path to Social Change.

For [USD] $3.500 you can sponsor the development of an online course.

Study Circles.  Ethics for the New Millennium is the Dalai Lama’s presentation of the approach he feels is most effective in enabling us to live well together in today’s diverse, interconnected world. Study Circles are a proven way to facilitiate effective learning of new ideas and behaviors for lifetime learners. In the past year this grassroots initiative has grown to 27 Study Circles in 7 countries.  Our goal for this year – 50 circles, Ethics Study Guide in 7 languages, plus two new Study Guides.  Help us spread the seeds of peace, one group of friends at a time.

For [USD] $100 you can seed 15 Study Circles by sponsoring the printing and mailing of 15 Study Guides.
