Between Four Eyes is currently seeking Teacher Ambassadors to train in mindful awareness-based educational programs in order to disseminate these techniques in the Middle East and Africa. During 2008-2009, individuals with a minimum of a Bachelors Degree, United States citizenship and full-time residency in the United States can qualify for TA candidacy. Courses will include techniques for peacebuilding and conflict resolution among people of diverse cultural, historical, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Foundation for Universal Responsibility Interschool Programme 20-26 July 2008 Tibetan Children's Village School, Gopalpur, Himachal Pradesh, North India Last Date to submit applications: 15 July 2008 The Foundation for Universal Responsibility has been organizing Interschool Programmes every year throughout India, so that students from different schools and communities can share each other's rich, cultural traditions. This year's activities will include lectures, discussions, skits, music, dance, art and travel. There will be workshops on conflict resolution, interfaith dialogue, guided meditation and tours to various religious sites. Four students from each school (2 girls and 2 boys) will be selected, accompanied by an escort teacher.

Lotte-Holzer Camp 11-22 August 2008 - Berlin [Germany] (German speaking-event) Lotte Holzer was a member of a group of young Jewish communists involved in the resistance against Hitler-fascism. They were betrayed and most of them were executed in 1942. The Dutch Ecumenical Congregation in Berlin organized the annual Lotte-Holzer-Camp in his name. This year, participants will do four hours of simple gardening work at a resistance memorial site on working days. Discussion topics will include past and present racism, forced labour, war and violence, as well as positive experiences with examples of equality, human rights and dialogue. The camp is open to 12 participants (limit) who are interested in those topics, aged 18 years or older, able to communicate in German, and willing to share life in a group under simple conditions for about two weeks.

Awareness and Concentration in Teaching Summer Retreat for Teachers 2008, 16 - 21 August Garrison Institute, 14 Mary's Way, Route 9D in Garrison, New York, USA In the 2008-2009 school year, the Garrison Institute's Initiative on Contemplation & Education will offer this innovative training, which has been developed by a team of researchers, educators, psychologists and experts in contemplative practice. This retreat, which offers 37 hours of training over four days, will be conducted by former teacher and educator Patricia Jennings, M.Ed., Ph.D., director of the Initiative on Contemplation & Education. Tuition includes training, housing and meals Saturday evening through Thursday afternoon. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for an additional cost.

1st World Conference of Women's Shelters Discovering the Common Core: Practical Frameworks for Change 8-11 September 2008 Shaw Conference Centre, Edmonton, Alberta, [Canada] The 1st World Conference of Women's Shelters will present a new opportunity for family violence workers from around the world to learn from international experts and each other. This will increase the capacity of shelters in Alberta, across Canada, and around the world to better meet the needs of multicultural and racial communities when dealing with domestic violence.
