AND WE'LL ALL GO TOGETHER
An Audiovisual Initiative in Global Understanding

“I believe that to meet the challenges of our times,
human beings will have to develop a greater sense of
 universal responsibility.
Each of us must learn to work not just for oneself,
one's own family or one's nation, but for the benefit of all humankind.
Universal responsibility is the best foundation for world peace.”

—His Holiness the Dalai Lama—
Human Rights and Universal Responsibility,
U.N. World Conference, Vienna 1993

The project was conceived and is directed by Peter Gold. The finished program will take the form of an evocative, video essay on the wisdom and humanity of these cultures. And it expresses how traditional and urbanized peoples are necessary partners in the quest for peace and harmony in the world and with one another. This video sampler is hosted by archive.org. And you may enjoy reading more about Peter Gold and the Ancient Ways project.

Project Rationale— We are all members of a great assembly of life on Planet Earth, having the responsibility to help one another into becoming the best examples of ourselves and communities in this, our only home. Over the millennia humanity had learned life’s important lessons, such as “we are all in the world together and as go the few, so go we all.” In each generation, awakened people thus had striven to walk the road of life wisely and compassionately.

In these troubling times we must relearn these lessons in treading the path of life in a meaningful and wholesome manner in order to bequeath to our descendants a world in harmony and health. This integrative vision of self and world continues to be held as a sacred trust by a dwindling number of traditionally-minded peoples who continue to abide by time-honored principles and practices for living in the world and with one another. They are our best models for wholesomely maintaining human life and a sustainable environment for future generations.

Project Description— The project will record high definition digital video, still images and audio among such diverse peoples as Native Americans, Tibetans, the Sami of Scandinavia, Australian Aborigines, Balinese and the Bushmen of Africa. They are venerable cultural and environmental stewards on their respective continents. They speak to us simply and directly through words, images and music about how to relate wholesomely to the Earth and to its myriad beings. The program concludes by returning us to our modernized world and into harmony among the human family as a whole.
