Chicago is the first North American city to host the summit. Distinguished speakers will include His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, as well as many other luminaries.</p>

<p>On the 25th, His Holiness will be a guest at the <a title="2012 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates." href="http://www.nobelsummitchicago.org/" target="_blank">2012 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.</a> The next day, he will give <a title="a public talk on non-violence" href="http://www.tibetcenterchicago.org/" target="_blank">a public talk on non-violence</a>, organized by the Tibet Center Chicago. Loyola University is donating space for the event, to be held at the Gentile Arena on the university&#8217;s Lake Shore Campus.<strong> </strong>Approximately 4,000 tickets will be available for purchase by the general public, with an additional 452 tickets provided free to students in grades 11 and 12 throughout Illinois.</p>

<p>Thich Nhat Hanh will lead a public <a title="walking meditation" href="http://www.mindfulnessretreats.org.uk/peace-walk/" target="_blank">walking meditation</a>, starting in Trafalgar Square at 2pm. This is a free event and everyone is warmly invited to join in this celebration of peace within us and around us. At the end of the walk there will be a guided sitting meditation. Walking meditation is one of the ways to contemplate and generate the energy of peace, solidity, and freedom.</p>

<p>Created by Free The Children to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change, <a title="We Day is a day-long event" href="http://www.weday.com/event" target="_blank">We Day</a> is a day-long event that ignites a year-long program for change in cities across Canada. Several We Day events will be held and the first one takes place on the 16th of November at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in the Waterloo Region. Guest will include Naomi Tutu, Magic Johnson, Mia Farrow and others. On the 23rd of November, former US Vice President/Nobel Laureate Al Gore, Mia Farrow, Paul Martin and more will join 16,000 youth, educators and friends at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. On the 29th of February, 2012, another We Day event will be held at the Théâtre St-Denis in Montreal. Guests at this event TBA.</p>
