at Coast Plaza Hotel, Downtown Vancouver, Canada, B.C. "Restorative justice" is a growing social movement to institutionalize peaceful solutions to crime, legal problems and human rights abuse. The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, as well as innovations within the criminal justice system, schools and communities, are good examples of this kind of approach. Restorative resolutions engage those who are harmed, perpetrators and their communities to solve problems in ways which promote reconciliation. Restorative Practices International (RPI) is a world-wide association for practitioners working in the restorative justice field. Their first conference was a success and organizers expect the next conference in 2009 to be even better. Visit their website for further information or to sign up for updates.
