Dalai Lama Renaissance film
Screenings everywhere!

Dalai Lama Renaissance is an 80-minute documentary film about 40 of the world's most innovative thinkers who travel to India in the Himalayan Mountains to meet with the Dalai Lama to solve many of the world's problems. Narrated by actor Harrison Ford, the film also features Quantum Physicists Fred Alan Wolf and Amit Gowami. Winner of 10 awards at film festivals around the world, it is the official selection of over 35 international film festivals. Not in God's Name- In Search of Tolerance with the Dalai Lama Film/video USA

Trapped in religious riots in Delhi, filmmaker Paula Fouce follows the Dalai Lama on a journey to understand religious intolerance. Not in God's Name shows how the world is ravaged by extreme divisions between religions. The film is being shown on Public Television in the US (schedule).

Global Citizenship: the Power of One

Keynote speaker Sharon Tennison will speak on "Global Citizenship: The Power of One" at the 2nd Annual Peacemakers Luncheon. She is the founder of the Center for Citizen Initiatives (CCI) based in San Francisco, California and St. Petersburg, Russia. In the past 25 years CCI has sponsored delegations of more than 1000 citizen diplomats to U.S. and Russia. As a member of one of the first CCI delegations to Russia, Peacemakers founder Vivian Castleberry was inspired to organize the first International Women's Peace Conference hosted by Peacemakers in 1988. This year's conference is sure to be an inspiration for all those who attend. (Individual tickets: $75 for members, $100 for non-members.)

Compassionate Listening Intensive: Healing the World from the Inside Out

Explore the Five Core Practices of Compassionate Listening at this event and learn the skills necessary to bring this powerful technique into your daily life. Compassionate Listening is a practice that reaches deep into the heart of discord or disconnection, teaching people to listen with a different "ear" to those around them. Its powerful tools help transform the energy of conflict into opportunities for understanding, intimacy at home, healthy relations, productive teamwork, and positive action. This is a 2-day non-residential workshop. The session will serve as the Basic Intensive for newcomers and an opportunity for previous participants to review and deepen their practice. Guests will include Andrea Cohen, co-director of the Jewish-German Reconciliation Project and Susan Partnow, who is co-founder of Conversation Cafes, Let?s Talk America and Global Citizen Journey.

We Day 2010

Since 2007, youth from across North America have come together to discover the passion they have in common, to celebrate their successes, to become aware of new challenges, and to build lasting friendships. This year's We Day event will kick off a year-long program of action, called We Schools in Action, as well as feature speeches and performances from global leaders, social activists, cultural icons and entertainers. We Day is free of charge and open to any school that wants to be part of the experience. In exchange, each school group that attends is asked to make a commitment to follow the We Schools in Action program, which includes taking local and global action throughout the year. Just a few of the distinguished guests at this year's three events will include: Deepak Chopra, award-winning author and physician, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa?s first female President, Martin Sheen, Emmy Award and Golden Globe-winning actor and activist, Former Vice President Al Gore, author and Nobel Laureate, and Mia Farrow, actress and activist.

17th National Forum on Character Education
